Join SCAPE Director of Planning and Resilience,Pippa Brashear, at the AIA NY event Heat Waves: Preparing for and Managing the Effects of Extreme Heat on Health, Populations, Emergency Housing and Hospitals. After the two hottest years on record, designers across disciplines are examining the ways planning and design of relief, recovery and retrofitting can play a key role in urban resilience. Presenters will discuss the sociological and medical effects of extreme heat, cooling centers and disaster shelter in New York City, HVAC systems design for healthcare facilities and more. The event coincides with the release of the report resulting from “Extreme Heat: Hot Cities” symposium held last November.
