SCAPE designed the on-structure and at-grade landscapes for the new Center for Agriculture and Natural Resources for the State University of New York in Cobleskill. The planting scheme uses species found throughout the Catskills region to create ecological and visual connections to the surrounding landscape. Grass quads on either side anchor the building in the campus and provide outdoor gathering space bordered by shrubs with varied seasonal character.

Off of the southern quad, a sloped berm supports a staircase to the second-floor entrance with seating areas embedded in drifts of red fescue, purple asters, and autumn ferns shaded by redbud, sassafras and birch trees. The roof of the first floor is covered in a dynamic pattern of sedum species accented by clusters of red fescue grass, purple allium flowers and Allegheny serviceberry trees to create a textural roofscape visible from the labs, classrooms and offices.
